I had created a Balloon. One Big Beautiful Balloon!
Their Mistake.. I am Trained.
I got clean and here's what happened next.
I had learned one thing when I came to recovery and that is:
"You have to give it away to keep it."
I really took it to heart.
So here's what I did :
My first endeavor was to contact MADD mothers and join their impact panel to tell my stories to those involved in drunk driving cases. Generally made up of 50 to 100 violators.
In a year of involvement one evening student counselor was present he approached me and requested that I be the keynote speaker for the drug Awareness Week. 7 dorms 200 students each I gladly accepted.
Mandatory participation 2 hours a night. This offered opportunities to answer inquiries offering some direction, both during and as well after.
Information to which would and did help with guidance to maintain a degree of healthy living, faith and hope.!
What can I do to further carry the message after returning to school gaining my GED.
So college courses, in the fields of computer applications, marketing verbal/nonverbal interpersonal communications.
With this knowledge I developed that 20 page monthly publication called living large. Based on drug addiction and alcohol dependence to carry a message of hope and faith!
Living large held 4 pages of the most comprehensive meeting list of all 12 step meetings in all of the County's area ranging from alcohol to eating disorders.
Direct approach towards substance abuse was quickly overwritten by articles related to psychological disorders.
Therapists and other professionals since submitted outlooks of their specialties directed towards other professionals of different fields.
I need to make this extremely clear for 15 years it was my responsibility to make sure that every article was appropriate for monthly publication.
Having to read everyone enabled my knowledge in the fields of rehabilitation and recovery to grow exponentially!. At times my responsibility included calls to those professionals to discuss the nature as well change any verbiage 2 include the layman's understanding.
My skills and marketing lead to professional relationships with CEOs, marketing directors, counselors, therapists and the like.
These relationships brought on a growth process in me that I did not expect.
My publication grew to over 300 locations and mailing list of over 100 nationwide so developed. All operations maintained by myself, publication set up, delivery, marketing, and editing still reading all articles still gaining knowledge in areas of psychology and more.
I have indeed been asked many times “Jason why don't you just go back to college, use your knowledge, do the paperwork and get your degree?. I didn't feel the need as I was already using everything I was learning in productive manners…
Contacted by a news reporter who had one of my publications. I was asked to tell my story then and now My story appeared on the front page and a quarter human interest.
Seeing, reading my life was nonetheless rewarding. The acknowledgement of my growth perceived by others as a productive member of society with integrity character and credibility was overwhelming to say the least.
Confirming the path of recovery taken in 1993 was truly the right one, balloon! My name grew to be one that I am truly proud of.
From that news story the programming director from radio station contacted me and inquired if I was interested of doing a talk show of recovery. Thus “Virtual Recovery” was born. Every Sunday night at 10:00pm I was blessed to interview many counselors/lawyers judges and others regarding laws therapy substance abuse and other topics related. Again my knowledge continues to grow.
Panel of three judges were kind enough to take off their robes and share their personal ways of dealing with dysfunction they faced every day.
This time of approached by Adolescent treatment Center for drug abuse. I achieved the position as counselor carrying my own caseload including drug addiction, family dysfunction, and abuse, all of which I'm well versed. Three years of interactions with these adolescents was very rewarding and I am grateful.
Again living large still in publication still reading every article received still adding to my knowledge.
Soon contacted by a psychiatric facility and my profession changed into psychological disorder's traumatic head injuries and autism in adults as an independent living instructor.
Underwent the facility's extensive training for two months, Medication to HIPAA. Shadowed for a month to ensure my training was well taken and trusted.
Three years had passed when I was offered a position and Neurological Behavioral Health Division.
Working with worst case scenarios, psychosis and the like. Holding that position for two years still growing and still learning in respect to recovery / rehabilitation.
Not only through personal / practical experience, but also still reading articles related to living large. (balloon)!
By this time I have developed a
BALLOON!
in my head of approximately 15 years, stockpiled with more information about mental health, recovery and rehabilitation than, I can say, all the staff I had met from Guardian Care Inc. or Lighthouse Neurological Rehabilitation Center.
Not Bragging, Not Egotistical, Just plain fact.
This Was Their Mistake..
Being knowledgeable in all these areas gave me the insight to see that there was absolutely no known purpose for the actions of Isolation, Confinement and Abuse, Emotional, Mental and Physical brought on by Guardian Care Inc. and The Lighthouse Neurological Center.
Except for Financial Gain.
The only way they had to cover up the abuse was by way of removing me from the face of the earth.
What people don't see, they don't know.
What they know, they can't help.
The damage done to, not only my life, but the pain and suffering brought to my family and friends went on without a care or thought.
